TDI Basic / Advanced Nitrox Combo

This course includes both of the above courses in one go. It is more intensive, but more efficient. It includes 4 nitrox dives (100 minutes bottom time) and covers all the topics in Nitrox in great detail, all culminating in certification to use 22% – 100% (oxygen) as a breathing gas.

TDI Basic Nitrox

This is the entry level certification course for recreational divers wishing to utilize enriched air nitrox (EAN) as a breathing gas. The benefits assosiated with breathing nitrox are many however the main reasons are to extend your bottom time by diving nitrox for a time advantage (extending the NDL) or to use nitrox for a physiological advantage (diving to an air NDL). Either way nitrox can increase your underwater range and give you a physiological edge over air.

Course Objective

The objective of this course is to train divers in the benefits, hazards, and proper procedures for using nitrox mixes from 22% to 40% oxygen content. Students will learn how to track CNS and pulmonary toxicity, formulate detailed dive plans and execute these in an ocean environment. Buoyancy control is also polished during this course to ensure the diver has the correct discipline and skill to dive close to an MOD for a mixture.

Qualifications of Graduates

  • Upon successful completion of this course, graduates may engage in diving activities utilizing EAN 22 to EAN 40 without direct supervision.

TDI Advanced Nitrox

This course looks into the use of EAN -21 through 100% oxygen for optimal mixes to a depth of forty (40) msw / one hundred thirty (130) fsw. The objective of this course is to show divers how to safely push the NDL back without going into decompression.

An Advanced Nitrox dive may include three different mixes, i.e. 21-28%, 30 -50% and 60 – 100%. By switching to higher mixes as the dive proceeds we can keep pushing back the NDL and extend the in water time without having the assosiated problems of decompression. Students will learn how to track multiple gas mixes both in the classroom and underwater as well as gas shutdowns, proper switchng procedures and advanced physiology.

If the student is looking to complete more advanced courses in the future then decompression techniques will be combined with this course.

Qualifications of Graduates

Upon successful completion of this course, graduates may engage in diving activities utilizing EAN-21 through one hundred (100) percent oxygen without direct supervision so long as:

  • The diving activities approximate those of training.
  • The areas of activities approximate those of training.
  • Environmental conditions approximate those of training.
