TDI Advanced Trimix

For those wanting to dive with a clearer head and higher degree of safety* the TDI Trimix Course provides the training required to competently and safely utilize breathing gases containing helium for dives that require staged decompression, utilizing nitrox and / or oxygen mixtures during decompression to a maximum depth of 200 fsw / 60 msw. With the addition of helium within the mix the level of narcosis can be altered to suit the divers suseptibility. Training dives are conducted with 30 msw equivalent air depths, showing the huge difference between a 60 msw air dive and the same dive on trimix. This is a pass or fail course.

* Divers are able to operate with a higher degree of safety and clarity on dives in the 40 – 60 msw region. This gas can make a dramatic difference when diving in colder waters like the UK.

Students must own full technical diving equipment before training commences.

The objective of this course is to train divers in the benefits, hazards and proper procedures of utilizing custom oxygen / helium / nitrogen mixtures as breathing gases. Advanced physics, physiology, gas planning, gas management, decompression techniques and in water skills are all mastered during this 5 day course.

Upon successful completion of this course, graduates may engage in technical diving activities utilizing custom Trimix mixtures without direct supervision so long as:

  • The diving activities approximate those of training
  • The area of activities approximate those of training
  • Environmental conditions approximate those of training
