Reminder: DSAT TecRec Update in Pattaya Sunday

Just a reminder that PADI’s DSAT technical diving division will host a roundtable forums in Pattaya June 21 to gather suggestions and ideas on the future of the agency’s tech courses.

DSAT has been doing forums around the world to map out what its instructors want for future tech-diving courses. As part of these discussions, the agency has already made some changes to its programs and standards.

For example, at the end of April, as a direct result of a forum in the U.S., the agency began allowing trimix to be used on the last dive of the Tec Deep course. At the same seminar, the idea of allowing tech-related distinctive specialties was discussed. That, too, has since been implemented, except for cave/cavern diving and closed-circuit rebreather, which presumably DSAT is preparing to roll out on its own.

The forums will continue around the world after Thailand. DSAT announced today that a forum will also be hosted in the Red Sea city of El Gouna, Egypt July 27.
